Epidemiology and Health Data

Good data is the foundation of effective public health. Epidemiology helps us understand who is affected by disease, why, and what can be done about it, while high-quality data systems allow governments and organizations to track progress and target resources.

This session focuses on research methods, data sources and how evidence is turned into action. It brings together epidemiologists, biostatisticians, researchers, data scientists and public health practitioners.

Key topics include global and regional burden of disease studies, national health and demographic surveys, maternal and perinatal surveillance, cohort and case-control studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, genetic epidemiology and birth defects such as orofacial clefts, disease registries, data quality and interoperability, measuring health inequalities, implementation and operational research, and communicating data to policymakers and communities.

We welcome original research, methods papers, data system evaluations and reviews. Attendees will strengthen their ability to generate, analyse and use health data to improve population health.
