Biography
Mishell Whitacre, lives in Atascadero, California, and has her own midwifery business called Mamacita Midwifery, where she does 4-5 homebirths monthly, proctors midwifery students, and does home lactation work. She became a midwife in 1985 and went to midwifery school along the border of El Paso, Texas and Juarez, Mexico, and has been working with the poor for many years. She moved to California, received her RN in 1990 graduating 9 months pregnant with her first baby, born at home. She took many years off and raised her 4 children, homeschooling them, and returned to nursing work in 2006. She has since received her California License for Midwifery, and IBCLC. She has 8 grandchildren and has been married 39 years. When not delivering babies, she loves to ride horses along the DeAnza trail or beach in Morro Bay.
